Bicycle Camp for Individuals With Disabilities

Teaches individuals with disabilities to independently ride a conventional two-wheeler with a success rate of approximately 80%.

LIU Post is holding a three-day institute that is designed to prepare professionals to meet the needs of students with Down syndrome. A former teacher for NYC’s Department of Education, Yvonne understands the demands placed on educators in challenging systems; And as a parent of a child with special needs, she has experienced the barriers and breakthroughs of raising a child in Long Island’s education system. Yvonne is a member of the NYS Education Department’s Commissioner’s Advisory Panel for Special Education representing parents and families; a past president of her school district’s SEPTA; and serves on various committees and task forces focused on improving outcomes for all children with special needs.

The environment and outdoor recreation are important to her family and has challenged them to be more confident and self-sufficient individuals. Parent to Parent of NYS assists families when they learn their child has a disability.
